You don’t need an expert to tell you that you have dry skin. Dry skin occurs when skin doesn’t retain sufficient moisture. This can happen as a result of frequent bathing, use of harsh soap, medical conditions or simply living in cold climates.
Here’s 4 simple steps on how to prevent dry skin:
- Limit yourself to 5-10 minute bath og shower daily. Staying in the shower for longer than that, may strip away the skin’s oily layer and cause it to lose moisture.
- Apply moisturizer immediately after bathing or washing your hands
- Avoid wearing wool and other fabrics that can irritate the skin
- Minimize your use of soaps: Soap is harsh and drying to the skin, but if necessary choose moisturizing preparations specially formulated for dry skin or consider soap-free cleansers
